Description
New Plate Current Matched Quad of Mullard EL34 / 6CA7 Vacuum Tubes
The Mullard EL34 is one of the most famous tubes of all time. It is now back as one of the most versatile tubes for use in high fidelity stereo equipment and amplifiers.
Will work in place of: EL34, EL34B, 6CA7Testing and/or Matching
At VIVA TUBES, all of our customers get the same high standard of testing and matching. Some sellers charge more for premium matches but we believe all of our customers should get the same level of quality and service.
Tubes are tested and/or matched at full operating voltage with regulated power supply on a Maxi Matcher tester for general mutual transconductance (Gm). In addition, power tubes are tested/matched by plate current (Ip) and preamp tubes are tested/matched by gain. Rectifier tubes will be tested for emissions on a calibrated military grade tube tester.
Our goal is to match within 5% with an upper limit of 15% (15% is the industry limit to consider a set).
Hand written test data included.
Note that we do offer a few models which are tested & matched at the factory. They will be matched by the same parameters (Ip & Gm) but to the manufacturer's standards. Factory testing will be indicated in the item title and description.
Guarantee
We offer a minimum 90 day guarantee covering functional defects - including noise unless otherwise stated. The guarantee period begins the day you receive your order.

Mullard EL-34
After placing a order for another set of tubes (not the subject of review) that did not react well to the power amp they were being installed in I contacted Viva Tubes and without hesitation gave me a store credit towards my next purchase (which are the subject of this very short review). These new production Mullard EL-34's are exactly what my amp needed. If you are looking for a more classic tube sound these are the tubes you are looking for. Compared to the Psvane Horizon EL-34's the Mullards have a fatter and richer bottom end giving a better sense of scale and weight to the music while the mids having a somewhat CREAMIER sound giving acoustic and brass instruments a more natural texture, vocals are also well rendured with a nice sense of presence. The top end seems to be ever so slightly rolled off (which I prefer) making for extended listening sessions. The Psvane Horizon EL-34's are the opposite being more analytical and neutral, they may excite you in the beginning BUT to me it makes for shorter listening sessions. This is not my first dealing with Viva Tubes and they have always accomodated me with any issue I may have had, there customer service and commitment in keeping a happy customer to me sets a industry standard unlike some other vendors which I have dealt with. VIVA TUBES-HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

An excellent upgrade from the EL34
I’ve used these numerous times in the place of EL34 tubes. They have more punch and power overall and sound terrific

The best EL34 for the Willsenton R8
I have a Willsenton R8 "MK II" and have been rolling a bunch of EL34s for the past year, including the EH 6CA7, EH EL34, Psvane EL34PH and the Tung-Sol EL34B. The Psvane EL34PH has great clarity and detail but sounds a bit "thin". My go to tubes were the EH 6CA7, very musical and the Tung-Sol EL34B, very clean, detailed with some punch. But the Mullard EL34 surprised me with its imaging and accuracy in sound. Instruments sound more real, vocals are sharp. Of course amp topography makes a difference in the sound so the Mullards may not match your amp, but for the Willsenton R8, they can't be beat.
